Trans-Siberian/Trans-Mongolian (2017)

Trans-Siberian/Trans-Mongolian

I spent 2 nights and 3 days on the Trans-Siberian/Trans-Mongolian Railway via Abakan, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Ulan Ude to Ulaanbaatar. After a very short night because of 4-hour-long heavy border controls and train searches by the Russian and the Mongolian border forces in Ulan Ude, I got woken up 1 hour prior to arrival in the capital of Mongolia by the grumpy Chinese train conductor. The stunning view captured in the picture after I climbed out of my bunk bed, opened the window and got hit by the freezing cold air of the Steppe, was pretty much the first thing I’ve seen of beautiful Mongolia.
